This is a very famous and very popular salad, that is prepared all around the world. The curious thing about this dish is that each culture is in charge of preparing it with a touch of their customs and traditions .

The Mexicans prepare it with corn and many more vegetables that you will discover along the way. But that’s not all because a creamy consistency is also given to the salad as mayonnaise is added. Its flavor is sweet, fresh and light – perfect for a lunch.

The tuna salad can also be served as first course accompanied of crackers or over some crispy corn tostadas.

About the Recipe

  • The tuna salad is very easy to make, perfect for beginners. Only ingredients have to be chopped and mixed.
  • Buy canned tuna to make the salad. You will find it basically with water, vegetable oil and olive oil – use the one you like the most.
  • The golden corn, that is used in this salad, also has to be canned.
  • In this recipe peas are also used and they can be bought canned or frozen.

  • The recipe serves 4 portions.


  • 2 Tuna cans (8.8 oz)
  • 1 Celery rib (.7 oz)
  • 1 Tomato (7 oz)
  • 1 Lime (1 oz)
  • 1/4 cup of Peas (1.7 oz)
  • 1/4 cup of canned Golden Corn Kernels (1.7 oz)
  • 1/2 Onion (2.4 oz)
  • 1 Coriander sprig (.3 oz)
  • 4 tablespoons of Mayonnaise
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tablespoon of Salt

  • Cookware

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Chopping Board
  • 1 Mixing Spatula
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Lime Squeezer (optional)

  • Directions

    1. Dice 1 tomato, put them in a bowl and reserve.
    2. Cut 1 celery rib into small chunks, pass them to the bowl and reserve.
    3. Finely chop 1/2 onion and 1 coriander sprig; upon completion transfer them to the bowl.
    4. Also add in the bowl:
    • 2 Tuna cans without the liquid in which it is seasoned.
    • The juice of 1 Lime.
    • 1/4 cup of Peas.
    • 1/4 cup of canned Golden Corn Kernels.
    • 4 tablespoons of Mayonnaise.
    • Pepper to taste.
    • 1/4 tablespoon of Salt.

    Chipotle mayonnaise can also be used to give a deeper flavor to the salad.

    1. Mix very well the tuna salad with a mixing spatula.
