Bacon Guacamole

The guacamole is very popular, all the world knows it however when someone goes into the variations that exist of this recipe... is very easy to get amazed with all the ingredients that can be used to make this dip. One of these ingredients is the bacon and it sounds weird to have the guacamole mixed with a type of meat but within the Mexican cuisine everything is possible.

The first thing that you will notice when you try this guacamole is the crunchiness and the unique flavor of the bacon. You will also notice a lot of freshness and a lot of softness – a concept that exists in all the types of guacamoles. And lastly some strong notes will be felt that come from the onion and the garlic.
It is a very different combination that will delight you .



When your bacon guacamole is ready you will wonder in what can be used... we recommend enjoying it with snacks like tortilla chips , it can also be tasted with appetizers like fried plantains or if you want it can also be served as garnish of a main course that you consider.


About the Recipe

  • This guacamole has more steps than any other guacamole but is not difficult to prepare.
  • We give the recipe with 2 serrano peppers however if you want less hotness, only use 1 chili.
  • To make the guacamole red onion is used because it gives a very special touch but white onion could also be used.
  • Only are needed to make this recipe.
  • The preparation yields 2 cups.


Ingredients

  • 3 Avocados (26.4 oz)
  • 4 Bacon strips (2.8 oz)
  • 2 Serrano Peppers (.8 oz)
  • 1 Lime (1 oz)
  • 1/2 Red Onion (2.6 oz)
  • 2 Garlic cloves (.2 oz)
  • 2 Coriander sprigs (.7 oz)
  • 1 teaspoon of Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon of Salt

  • Cookware

  • 1 Frying Pan
  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Turner
  • 1 Mixing Spatula
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Fork
  • 2 Paper Towels
  • 1 Lime Squeezer (optional)

  • Directions

    Cook the Bacon


    1. Cut 4 bacon strips into small chunks and then reserve.
    2. Heat in a frying pan over medium heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil.
    3. Incorporate in the frying pan the small bacon chunks that were cut and fry them for about 3 minutes, until they are well cooked; stir regularly.
    4. Transfer from the frying pan to some paper towels the bacon chunks that were fried, so they dry and the fat excess is absorbed; then reserve.



    Cut Ingredients


    1. Dice 1/2 red onion and reserve.
    2. Remove the veins and the seeds of 2 serrano peppers.


    It is important to remove the veins and the seeds of the chilies so the guacamole has better texture.


    1. Finely chop the serrano peppers with the ones you worked, 2 garlic cloves and 2 coriander sprigs; then set aside.

    Mix the Ingredients


    1. Scoop out the pulp of 3 avocados and put it in a bowl; reserve 1 avocado pit.
    2. Mash with a fork the avocados’ pulp that was put in the bowl, until having the consistency of a puree.
    3. Also add in the bowl:
    • The Bacon chunks with the ones you worked.
    • The Red Onion dices that were cut.
    • The Serrano Peppers that were minced.
    • The Garlics that were minced.
    • The Coriander that was minced.
    • The juice of 1 Lime.
    • 1/2 tablespoon of Salt.


    1. Mix very well the bowl ingredients with a mixing spatula.
    2. Insert in the bacon guacamole, the avocado pit that was reserved,


    The avocado pit serves to preserve the bacon guacamole for a longer time.

    Suggestion: This guacamole can be garnished with grated fresh cheese, it will give more flavor.


    Variation: The guacamole can also be prepared with escamoles.
