Chicken Tacos

It can be said that the tacos are a food but more than a food, they really are an eating style – where a filling is enjoyed wrapped in a tortilla. That’s the concept of a taco. Now from this style many recipes have been derived and here you will learn the style of chicken tacos.

In the chicken tacos you will see
some soft tortillas that have a very interesting filling because it is made with chicken, bell pepper, coriander and more ingredients; that make of this combination a delight.



Within this eating style there’s something more... and that consists of salsas. It is very important that there are salsas on the table to accompany the tacos because they give flavor, freshness and hotness. A combination that everyone loves. For these tacos we recommend the green salsa with avocado , the red salsa or the chipotle pepper salsa – any of these salsas will go perfect with your tacos.


About the Recipe

  • This recipe is easy to make you only have to cut some ingredients, then fry them and at the end the tacos are made.
  • Start from scratch by preparing your own corn tortillas.
  • This recipe can also be prepared with flour tortillas.
  • The tacos are prepared with red bell pepper however it can be exchanged for yellow or orange.

Ingredients

  • 2 skinless and boneless Chicken Breasts (14.1 oz)
  • 10 Corn Tortillas (7 oz)
  • 2 Limes (2.1 oz)
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper (5.9 oz)
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper (5.9 oz)
  • 1/2 Onion (2.6 oz)
  • 3 Coriander sprigs (1 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tablespoon of Salt

  • Cookware

  • 1 Frying Pan
  • 1 Griddle
  • 1 Chopping Board
  • 1 Turner
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Ramekin

  • Directions

    Cut some Ingredients


    1. Cut 2 limes into wedges, put them in ramekin and take it to the table.
    2. Finely chop 1/2 onion and 3 coriander sprigs; then set aside.
    3. Discard the seeds and the veins of 1 red bell pepper and 1 green bell pepper.


    It is very important to remove the seeds and the veins of the bell peppers because they don’t provide a pleasant taste to the tacos.


    1. Cut into strips the 2 bell peppers with the ones you worked, then reserve.
    2. Clean 2 boneless and skinless chicken breasts.
    3. Dice the chicken breasts that were cleaned, then reserve.



    Fry some Ingredients


    1. Heat in a frying pan over medium heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
    2. Put in the frying pan the onion that was minced and fry it for approximately 1 minute, until it looks a bit transparent; stir regularly.
    3. Incorporate in the frying pan:
    • The Chicken dices that were cut.
    • The Red Bell Pepper strips that were cut.
    • The Green Bell Pepper strips that were cut.


    1. Mix the frying pan ingredients and fry them for about 5 minutes until the chicken is moderately cooked; stir regularly.
    2. Add in the frying pan, along with the other ingredients:
    • The Coriander that was minced.
    • Pepper to taste.
    • 1/4 tablespoon of Salt.


    1. Mix the frying pan ingredients and fry them for about 2 minutes, until the chicken is well cooked; stir regularly. Then set aside.

    Make the Tacos


    1. Heat on a griddle over medium heat 10 maize tortillas for approximately 1 minute per each side, until they are well heated.
    2. Remove from the griddle the tortillas and put on each tortilla some of the filling that was cooked.
    3. Roll the chicken tacos that were prepared or fold them as quesadillas.

    * In some parts of Mexico the tacos are served with double tortilla – in case that some filling falls, you can always make another taco.

    You have to put lime to these tacos because the flavor of the tacos with lime is the best that there is – and here you can buy very good limes.
